How to Handle Self-Defeating Thoughts

Updated: May 22, 2022

How to stand up to a negative, self-defeating, false belief you often think in response to interactions with others and events in life:

You have a choice when it comes to your thinking. You can choose to think, right now or any time, any thought you want. Go for it, try it now. Also, you can become aware you're thinking a thought you don't like or want, and choose to push it aside and replace it with another thought.

Here are 4 questions to ask of any thought, that can help you identify if it's a good one worth keeping, or it should get kicked aside ASAP:

•Is it true? •Is it even possible to know if it's true? •How do I feel when I think that thought? •How would I feel if I didn't think it and rejected it?
